Supermarket Lurcher is reunited with owners!

14 October 2009

The black female lurcher stolen from outside Sainsburys in Heyford Hill was reunited with her owners earlier this week.

You can see the original report here.

Stolen over three weeks ago, Jessie was found by a farmer on his land around 80 miles away in Leicestershire. She was then cared for overnight by a kind neighbour who when handed her to the dog warden the next day. Thanks to her microchip, the dog warden was able to contact Jessie's owners and give them the good news that she was safe and well.

Jessie is in good health, if a little skinny, and didn't smell too great when she was found - nothing a bath couldn't fix!

This case shows the paramount importance of getting your pets chipped and keeping your contact details up to date with the microchip database. The big lesson for everyone, of course, is this:

NEVER, EVER LEAVE YOUR DOG TIED UP OUTSIDE A SHOP.

We still see it happen every day. It's a disaster just waiting to happen.
